I’m Catherine Hayler, a Melbourne based artist who lives Bayside.

Born in the UK, I moved with my family to Melbourne when I was three.

I’ve always been surrounded by art as my Dad was previously an art dealer and then an auctioneer specialising in art and antiques.

I reconnected with painting over the last few years (especially during the worlds longest lockdown) after having two children, working with acrylics and favouring soft calming tones and pastels.

I’m very much a summer person. I’ve always loved spending time at the beach, it’s therapeutic - breathing in the fresh air, feeling the sun on my skin (but always slip, slop, slap kids!) and washing the days troubles away. I paint beach and surfer girls scenes because it transports me back to those calming feelings and memories but I think individually they each have an energy about them.

It’s only been since October last year (2021) that I started to sell my work and I have been blown away by the support and encouragement. So thank you!
